Welcome to SwitchTank! By creating an account or using the SwitchTank app or website, you agree to these terms.

What SwitchTank is

SwitchTank is a marketplace and community for aquarium hobbyists: buy, sell and rehome aquarium life and equipment locally, and share your hobby on Aquagram. SwitchTank is a venue only — we are not a party to any transaction, we don't handle payments, shipping, or guarantees, and we don't verify listings.

Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use SwitchTank.
• You're responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
• Provide accurate information and keep it current. Do not impersonate another person or create accounts for abusive or fraudulent purposes.
• You may use an optional handle, but it must not violate another person's rights or our community rules.

Buying & selling

• Transactions are arranged directly between buyer and seller. Meet in safe, public places and never send money in advance.
• Sellers are responsible for the accuracy, legality, care, transport, and fulfillment of their listings, including complying with all local laws on the sale and transport of live animals.
• Listings of endangered, protected, or illegally collected species are strictly prohibited.
• You are responsible for independently evaluating another user, an animal, equipment, listing, location, and transaction. SwitchTank does not inspect, endorse, guarantee, insure, or verify users, animals, products, or listings.
• Do not use SwitchTank to arrange unlawful transactions, unsafe exchanges, or transactions involving prohibited species or materials.

Community rules

• No spam, scams, harassment, hate speech, or sexually explicit content.
• Only post content you have the right to share.
• Animal welfare comes first — content showing neglect or mistreatment will be removed.
• Do not upload malware, attempt to access another user's account, scrape the service, interfere with the service, or evade a block or suspension.
• We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, create risk, or misuse the service. We respond to in-app reports but do not promise to review or remove every report.

Content license

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give SwitchTank a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt as technically necessary, and display that content within the service (for example, showing your listing or post to other users). This license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies that remain in backups or that are retained as part of another user's content or as required for safety, legal, or operational reasons.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to upload the content and to grant this license. Do not upload content that infringes another person's rights.

Account deletion and inactive accounts

You may delete your account through the available app or website settings. Account deletion removes your profile and account records that we control. Comments made before deletion may remain visible in a post with their stored display name, but the name will not link to an active profile and will be identified as an inactive account. We may retain limited information when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, disputes, or backups.

Reporting and intellectual property complaints

Use Help & Support or the in-app reporting tools to report suspected abuse, unsafe animal treatment, illegal activity, or rights violations. Include enough information for us to investigate. We may restrict content or accounts while investigating. If you believe content infringes your copyright, contact us through Help & Support with the work, the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, and the required statements under applicable law.

Third-party services and links

SwitchTank uses third-party services, including Google Firebase, Google Sign-In, Google Maps, and, when enabled, Google AdMob. Those services may have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, or content linked through SwitchTank.

Disclaimers

SwitchTank is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of availability, accuracy, fitness, and non-infringement. We are not liable for disputes, losses, injuries, animal-health issues, property damage, fraud, or other damages arising from transactions or interactions between users, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

You agree to use reasonable care when communicating with or meeting other users and to follow applicable laws. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify SwitchTank from claims arising out of your content, conduct, listings, or violation of these terms.

Service changes

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, content, or access to the service. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Changes & contact

We may update these terms; continued use after changes means you accept them. Questions, reports, and legal notices can be submitted through the app or website's Help & Support section.
